Stone altar
Teljes mű / Kész
Onto stone altar to sacrifice I brought my best,
yet always been denied of peace and any rest;
i confessed my hidden thoughts and sins to heal,
so often withdrew from myself a decent meal.
I wasn't coward - for I burned of shame,
born like puppy into family of decent name -
I left the house and orchard - the rich table,
when she smiled at me - I just refused her .
I often slept in rain - by woods and riverside,
asked my God to bless me and to kill my pride -
i won like Spartan in the righteous war ,
at place of no chance did I set the score.
I fought the time - and i was almost there to win;
God of Time sent storm on me for unknown sin -
the apple tree i planted always yielded plenty
spineless worms came up and left it empty .
I also have despised the luck and run away from it
sent him far - to stay by those - where he just fit ;
visited me friends who lived in milk and honey
boasted up with everything you get for money,
Deifying luck and fortune laughing in my face
with their soul in dung as chosen living place ;
they made a promise - solemnly they swore
that for more reward - they worship more.
I came to understand why God was hard on me
He must have known me well before i came to be ;
stubborn pride still lives in me and never died,
in vain i wished his death - it hid in me inside .
And now i ask forgiveness True and Mighty God
for maybe I’m just wasting up my precious blood ;
i simply can not sell those things You gave,
even if your present is your sternness on my fate;
Even more if you deny Your blessed peace for me
I gladly will prefer on sacrificial stone altar to be
but I will never say there are no things I hate
and I will keep my pride for heaven’s sake.
